Imperialism in art

The main visual elements are the man with the top hat and the arms grabbing the different countries.
The cartoon shows the imperialism england is doing. It is trying to show that england has its hands full in imperialism. The author obviously feels negatively about what England is doing. It is shown by the top hat which is a symbol of greed and too much wealth. The artist could have made the person ugly to show the evil. The contrast is great as your eyes immediately center in on the man with the hat. Repetition is also used effectively with the multiple arms. Although there is no alignment it seems as it is not required.
