A good leader thinks first about his/her people, then about himself/herself. Take Mahatma Gandhi for example. He cared about his country so much that he barely attended to his personal needs. A good leader should not be arrogant at all. He/she should be a idol for people. Also she/he should take other peoples suggestions.

Some leaders in our school are:
Lucas Hille because he is not arrogant, he is not shy, and he is a good talker.

Joel Witt because he can get the job done.

Farah Weanenara because she takes peoples suggestions as a slams rep.

I will add more to the list as I see more leaders.

Humanities; challenged by it

The outsiders final S.S was challenging for me. The main reason was because I was not prepared. I had no notes or no pages bookmarked. So when we had the S.S I barely talked. Next time I will remember to prepare and check my agenda. We have another S.S coming up soon so this time I will do better.

Humanities; Proud of it

The piece I am proud of is my expository piece. This is because my last two writing pieces were not so good and I scored low points on them. On the expository piece my writing quality was much better. Also many other people scored low on this as they thought it was a summary of their museum display instead of a summary of their topic. Overall I am proud of the writing piece because of the effort I put in it .

Here is the piece:

Importance of Coal and Steam during the I.R

In the Industrial Revolution there were two main resources, that without there would be no progress. These were coal and steam. Each of these had huge importance in the I.R.

The arguably the most important invention during the I.R was steam power. Steam power was first captured by Thomas Savery. He made the first engine in 1698. This first engine was very basic It had no moving parts and worked on a vacuum system. Also it was very weak and barely made any power. It was called a miners friend, as the inventor intended it to pump water out of mines. Next was Thomas Newcomen’s engine. Although this was more powerful it consumed huge amounts of coal and could only be used to pump out water from coal mines. Finally in 1878 a engine came that would change the ways of the I.R for ever. It was a revolutionary engine invented by James Watt. This engine was more powerful and consumed less coal. But mainly it was the rotary movement of this engine that allowed it to be used it mills and factories. This engine also led to the development of the train.

Coal was the fuel for the I.R. Before the invention of the steam engine if coal reserve was found, it could not be exploited very far. If miners went deep there would be too much water. After the invention though miners could go a lot deeper. But soon they were confronted by another problem. The gases found in the deeper parts were sometimes explosive. The lanterns used by miners would ignite and explode the gases. Many men died like this until William Reid Clanny devised a safety lamp. This would detect any gases. Coal was used to power steam engines and later on trains. The demand for coal was huge. Coal was mined for many centuries from then until other alternatives came, although mining continues today.

W.O.W; worth it?

W.O.W is important enough to skip a week of our 8th grade education. I came up with three
reasons to support my opinion.

The first one is to see India's diversity. We live in Delhi and there we learn something about India. But there is more to India than the shopping malls, acsa, and our homes. There are also beautiful mountains, raging rivers and a lot of culture. If we are living and going to school in India it is important to learn about India.

The second reason is to meet new people and make new friends. Before W.O.W Shuk and I knew each other but we did not get along very well. Over W.O.W I learnt that there was some good in him and we dont fight now and get along pretty well.

Thirdly, it is to grow a apprecition for the nature around us. The first time I saw the place it was beautiful. Also the gushing white water was a worth a postcard .I just grew a larger appreciation for nature.

A.E.S's moto is ENTER TO LEARN, LEAVE TO SERVE. This mean that learning is more than sitting in class. A.E.S wants us to be better and more citizens .By having W.O.W this is what A.E.S is doing.

Assessing my old goals and making new ones

My main goal I wanted to archive was to improve my writing. I think I have got better at that after looking at my I.R writing grades. My first two writing grade were pretty bad but then my next one was a lot better. Finally my last grade for the expository piece was very good. As for the grammar improvement

My main goal is still to improve my writing as their is still space for improvement their.

Also my grammar goal still remains as we have not consultated that yet in class.

If I were to think of a third goal it would to improve my teamwork ability. For the I.R display I got a partner who I didn't like very much. So I had some arguments with that person and in the end we got a bad grade.
